Flying trout? OTL Made Magic At California Retail Destination

Today’s retail experiences have to do more than just entertain. They have to transcend. Art is one way to evoke that transcendence.
Developers and owners Shea Properties and CenterCal Properties, LLC understood this early on when developing its Collection at RiverPark project, which today is West Ventura County’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination.
Early in the process, the two developers made an important decision to commission national and internationally recognized artists to create a group of artistic pieces that infuse the 750,000 square foot, open-air retail center with beauty and culture.
From there, OTL was tasked with bringing several of these artistic visions to life. From flying trout, which appear to leap from a fishing net and weave between river reeds and streams of water in the center’s Coastal Conversion Fountain, to a web of stainless-steel mermaid weathervanes crisscrossing streams of water in the center’s Mermaid Fountain, OTL had the opportunity to connect art and nature in a series of fountains which have become focal points of the destination retail center.
There are unique benefits and challenges to working with a group of world-renowned artists to deliver functional, technically sound water features.
Our team – artisans themselves – must look at every angle carefully to align with the sculptor’s vision while infusing the water and technical elements that bring the fountain to life.
By creating and adhering to a detailed communications plan and implementing our firm’s sophisticated project management techniques, we were successful in bringing each water feature to life in an homage to nature, art, and the power of water.
The result is a series of gathering places throughout the center that bring locals and visitors back to The Collection again and again.
The Collection at RiverPark continues to win awards and earn the respect and prestige of its local community. OTL is proud to be a part of this continued success.
