In 2023, CHRISTUS Health opened a new 460,000-square-foot corporate headquarters, a 15-story tower built to support 2,000 associates alongside patients and guests. OTL was asked to design and build the water feature that would greet everyone who walked through its dramatic main entrance.
Now, that entrance sets the tone for the entire building before a single door opens.

CHALLENGE
CHRISTUS wanted an entrance water feature inspired by the native landscape surrounding its new headquarters, one geometric enough to match the building’s modern architecture yet organic enough to feel welcoming.
Achieving that look meant working in symmetrical concrete forms with sharp, acute angles at every water discharge point, a level of precision that left little room for error.
OTL’S
SOLUTION
OTL’s team created a series of symmetrical concrete water elements set over luminous glass rocks, with water bubbling up through each shape’s center and cascading gently over the sides.
To get those complex angles exactly right, OTL worked closely with the concrete team throughout construction, then placed more than four tons of decorative glass rock at the base of the black granite elements.
DMX-controlled fiber optic strands illuminate that glass from below, giving the feature a vibrant glow after dusk that carries just as much impact as it does in daylight.
Guests, patients and staff now pass this gradual, geometric water feature every time they approach the building, greeted by soothing sound and colorful light. It has become the calming first impression CHRISTUS envisioned, setting a welcoming tone before anyone even steps inside.
