BUSINESS DEVELOPER

The BUSINESS DEVELOPER is responsible for all business development and client relationship duties within the company as further outlined below. The BUSINESS DEVELOPER is a full-time exempt position based in Anaheim, California and will report to our VP of Business Development.

Roles & Responsibilities

The primary role is to develop profitable new business and to develop and maintain effective key client relationships that will ensure business growth through business development activities that are delivered in accordance with the organizational strategy, which will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Impact the profitability of the company through ensuring strategic and tactical management decisions and new business development results
  • Marketing
  • Competitor and market analysis
  • Sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities
  • Ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning
  • Present a budget for board approval and prudently manage resources within those budgetary guidelines according to company policy and within ethical corporate governance guidelines
  • Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, clients, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company’s vision and strategy
  • Create, prepare and present sales presentations and proposals in a professional manner consistent with corporate strategy and culture
  • Prepare and update required reports in formats acceptable to the company, including an annual sales plan with quarterly backlog goals, updated monthly; a funnel report of all leads being followed at all stages, activity and results reports and any other business development related reporting requested by the company
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and attending trade shows
  • Interact collaboratively with all company departments and internal personnel in a manner that supports the company’s vision and strategy

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Extraordinary interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well with executive management, all levels of internal management and staff, clients and vendors
  • Excellent organizational skills and a thorough knowledge of the construction industry is required as well as the ability to function well independently with minimal supervision and also to work collaboratively
  • Be flexible and able to work well under pressure with the ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate, prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a good sense of humor and demeanor
  • Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning and implementation

Five or more years of progressive experience in the construction or related industry is required and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction is an added advantage

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The BUSINESS DEVELOPER will be working in an office environment that requires walking up and down stairs, kneeling, stooping and sitting, lifting objects weighing as much as 25 pounds. The office environment is a professional one; however, being in the construction industry the BUSINESS DEVELOPER will interact with all levels within the Company, including field personnel. The BUSINESS DEVELOPER position requires travel that will require stays away from home, sometimes for several days in a row.
