Getting to Know Devin Schumacher, Director of Field Operations

Posted in Insights -

Leading field operations at OTL is no small task. It takes someone with a clear vision, a deep understanding of client goals, and the ability to inspire and guide our field teams with purpose and care. Fortunately, Devin Schumacher brings all that and more.

Since joining OTL in mid-2025, Devin has been at the helm of our on-site execution efforts, overseeing the construction of our signature water features and specialty rockwork nationwide. From preconstruction planning through final commissioning, he ensures that every detail meets the high standards of artistry, innovation, and precision that define OTL’s work. Whether it’s a cascading plaza waterfall, a playful splash pad, or an immersive themed stream, Devin’s focus is always the same: deliver beautiful, durable, and on-schedule results that exceed expectations.

We sat down with Devin to learn more about what brought him to OTL, what drives his work, and a fun fact you might not know.

What attracted you to OTL?

I started my career in construction working for Big City Crushed Concrete in Dallas, processing and recycling concrete. After finishing school, I moved into building pools and water features, and later into commercial building and land development. I had seen some of OTL’s projects, especially Legacy West in Plano and EpicCentral in Grand Prairie, and was impressed by the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and how well the work was coordinated. When the chance came to join the team, I knew it was a good fit.

What do you like about being on the OTL team?

As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt background, I like having the opportunity to explore the operational side of projects and apply ideas that improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. I also appreciate the team-driven environment here. We share ideas, problem-solve together, and work toward the same goal.

What is a fun fact that people may not know about you?

I like spending time outdoors with my family, whether it’s fishing or taking the 4Runner out on the trails.

What are you excited about accomplishing with OTL?

I’m looking forward to contributing to projects that stand out for their quality and creativity. I also want to be a part of helping OTL continue to grow and be recognized for the unique work we do.
